Research production at universities in Africa needs greater support to speed up the generation of knowledge and innovation that are needed for the continent’s development and prosperity. With this goal in mind, ACEIR aligns with the African Research University Alliance’s strategic focus on creating post-doctoral opportunities and providing early career support through collaborative research and mentorship.
The nurturing of emerging and early career researchers takes different forms, such as:
- Supporting and mentoring researchers enrolled in postdoctoral programmes offered by ACEIR and the Cluster of Research Excellence in Inequalities, Poverty, and Deprivation.
- Hosting researchers who are recipients of the annual ARUA Early Career Research Fellowship to give them time away from teaching responsibilities at their home institutions while working with senior and accomplished researchers.
- Facilitating exchanges and opportunities to collaborate and publish with researchers from other partner institutions in the ACEIR network.
- Creating networking and collaboration opportunities to present at conferences and participate in policy dialogues with government and other key stakeholders.
