This training is conducted by ACEIR’s data partner, DataFirst, on demand, as well as on an ad hoc basis by guest lecturers from partner universities. Researchers are introduced to using the R statistics language, a free open-source environment for statistical computing. The training can include an interactive component on applying R for spatial inequality data analysis. Mapping spatial inequality and poverty to get a better understanding of the dynamics of this form of inequality is a key component of ACEIR’s research agenda. Since 2020, researchers from ACEIR’s three country nodes, Mozambique, Statistics South Africa, and the National Institute of Statistics of Mali (Institut National de la Statistique Mali - INSTAT) attended this training in their preparation to conduct country inequality diagnostics.
