Faaiqa Hartley

Faaiqa Hartley joined the Southern Africa Labour and Development Research Unit at the School of Economics, University of Cape Town as Research Officer after four years at UCT’s Energy Research Centre and eight years at the National Treasury of South Africa. Her research has centred on developmental issues in Africa, primarily South Africa, and her recent interests include energy transitions, climate change and circular economics. She is proficient in economy-wide modelling techniques, particularly computable general equilibrium models and has been involved in the development of both the South African general equilibrium model, SAGE, and the South African linked energy-economic model, SATIMGE. She also collaborates with the United Nations University (UNU-WIDER) and the International Food Policy Research Institute.
