Gabriel Espi-Sanchis

Gabriel Espi-Sanchis is a Labour Economist who has worked and studied at both the University of Cape Town and the University of the Witwatersrand. His work over the last five years at the Southern Africa Labour and Development Research Unit (SALDRU), University of Cape Town, has included work on employment outcomes and dynamics during the COVID-19 pandemic, along with a project on labour regulation and informal work in sub-Saharan Africa. After many years working in research, he has now taken up a PhD to further enhance his technical skills and to follow his research interest in South Africa’s informal economy.
