Andrea Collins
Business Manager & Conference Coordinator, International Association for Feminist Economics
This pre-conference and mentoring workshop is organised by the Young Scholars Committee and the Pre-Conference & Mentoring Members Committee of the International Association for Feminist Economics. The event aims to introduce attendees to feminist economics, create a space for critical thinking, build meaningful networking among young and senior scholars, and break the ice between participants to kick-start the annual conference’s programme.
The half-day gathering is open to all conference attendees and pre-registered non-conference attendees. The programme starts with a hybrid panel discussion with senior feminist economists, followed by in-person only breakout sessions organised by the Young Scholars Initiative, and concluding with an in-person only plenary to reflect on what were discussed during the sessions.
This year’s panel discussion focuses on the topic of "Building a Career in Feminist Economics". Panellists are:
- Mariama Williams, Integrated Policy Research Institute (virtual)
- Jayati Ghosh, University of Massachusetts, Amherst (virtual)
- Debbie Budlender, Community Agency for Social Enquiry (CASE) (virtual)
- Maureen Were, Central Bank of Kenya (in person)
- Lyn Ossome, Makerere University (in person)
- Bola Akanji, Quinnipiac University (in person)
Non-conference participants who wish to attend can register here.
