Dr Kwadwo Danso-Mensah
Kwadwo Danso-Mensah is a Development Economist and currently the Director of Research at the International Centre for Evaluation (ICED) where he oversees all projects related to evidence generation and applied research for the organisation. His role revolves around leading initiatives that involve conceptualisation, designing, and implementation of research for evidence programmes across various disciplines in Africa. His broad research interests are within poverty and inequality dynamics in developing countries with particular focus on African poverty and inequality trends; food systems research; incidence analysis of taxes and social spending; and social inequalities arising from climate change and action. He is also experienced in conducting research in demographic and environmental economics, especially on the valuation of non-market goods and services, and climate change and action. Kwadwo is also a monitoring, evaluation and learning expert with experience in managing a portfolio of programmes including complex multi-country programmes, progress reviews, evidence generation and evidence synthesis. Before joining the ICED, Kwadwo was a recipient of the African Research Universities Alliance–Carnegie Early Career Research Fellowships in 2021, working as a research fellow of ACEIR at its South Africa node at the University of Cape Town. Kwadwo was also an associate of the ACEIR Ghana node based at the Institute of Social, Statistical and Economic Research, University of Ghana. He too also been a visiting PhD fellow at the United Nations University, UNU-WIDER. Over many years he has gained excellent writing and data analysis skills; thought leadership through research and innovative approaches in policy and advocacy interventions; strong project and team management skills and with an outstanding record of project delivery. His networking skills are well developed with appreciable contacts within sub-Sahara Africa.
