Busisiwe Radebe

Busisiwe Radebe is a PhD candidate at the University of Cape Town and Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, as part of the National Research Foundation’s Desmond Tutu split-site PhD scholarship programme. Her current research is focused on understanding the drivers of intra-racial inequality in South African townships. This research touches upon several issues, including intergenerational poverty, the role of objective versus subjective socioeconomic class in consumption behaviour, and the extent to which resource inequality imbeds overall inequality among black South Africans. She holds degrees in Economics from the universities of Johannesburg and Stellenbosch.
