Dr Takwanisa Machemedze
Takwanisa Machemedze is a Statistician and Demographer with a keen interest in understanding the complexities of population dynamics. Over the course of his career, he has seamlessly blended roles as a data analyst, researcher, and biostatistician, leveraging his expertise in quantitative and statistical methods to gain insights into various patterns that shape population dynamics. His work incorporates methodological insights from statistics, demography, remote sensing, and public health. Previous work encompasses a range of focal points, ranging from old age mortality, HIV/AIDS and stigma, event history analysis of childhood and adult mortality, and innovative application of remotely sensed luminosity data as a proxy for various population measures. He holds a PhD in Sociology and a Master of Philosophy in Demography from the University of Cape Town and a Bachelor of Science Honours in Statistics from the University of Zimbabwe.
