31st International Association For Feminist Economics Annual Conference

Theme: Envisioning feminist economics strategies for an equitable and sustainable world

The 2023 conference theme recognises the contributions that feminist economists have made to developing and advancing understandings of alternative economic frameworks and strategies that are aimed at reducing inequalities within and between countries, achieving gender and social justice and environmental sustainability. It brings together academics, practitioners, advocacy groups and policymakers from around the world to present their visions of what a world defined by the principles of feminist economics would look like. The conference will facilitate deliberations on alternative theoretical frameworks and empirical evidence regarding strategies adopted by feminists. It will provide a space for debates on policy proposals on what steps are and could be taken to realise these visions.

Hosted by the International Association For Feminist Economics and ACEIR in Cape Town, South Africa, the conference takes place in person at the University of Cape Town, South Africa. Highlights of the conference and related side-events include:

• Three conference plenaries that will be hybrid events to provide the opportunity to join from anywhere in the world; 
• A conference school (invitation only);
• A pre-conference and mentoring workshop (requires pre-registration for non-conference participants);
• A hybrid side-event hosted by the Institute for Economic Justice and International Development Economics Associates alongside the IAFFE conference organisers and hosts. The event will feature a panel discussion on feminist economics, debt, structural adjustment, and the climate crisis (pre-registration required for non-conference participants).
